A home energy monitor developed by Intel gathers all the information that is sent to it from all the appliances that are plugged into wall sockets. Designed as sleek touch screen object, it can be hung on the kitchen wall or the counter-top. This panel communicates wirelessly with all the appliances and even turns them off when instructed to do so. According to Mr. Jensen, the Intel display is designed to entertain and instruct as well. The family members can use the built-in camera to leave video messages for one another and even run umpteen applications on the monitor. Right now the monitor is a prototype and Intel is still in the process of working with manufacturers that will use the designs and its processors to run the devices. It is being estimated that the final product might be available to the consumers for $400 or more.
